چکیده

The ground validation of satellite-based precipitation products (SPPs) is very important for their hydroclimatic application. This study evaluated the performance assessment four soil moisture-based SPPs (SM2Rain, SM2Rain- ASCAT, SM2Rain-CCI, and GPM-SM2Rain). All data were compared with 64 weather stations in Pakistan from January 2005 to December 2020. estimations on daily, monthly, seasonal, yearly scales, over whole spatial domain, at point-to-pixel scale. Widely used evaluation indices (root mean square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (CC), bias, relative bias (rBias)) along categorical (false alarm ratio (FAR), probability detection (POD), success (SR), critical index (CSI) analysis. results our signposted that: (1) On a monthly scale, all better agreement gauge as daily scales. Moreover, SM2Rain GPM-SM2Rain accurately traced spatio-temporal variability CC >0.7 rBIAS within acceptable range (±10) country. (2) seasonal scale (spring, summer, winter, autumn), performed more satisfactorily other SPPs. (3) capturing light events, indicated by Probability Density Function (PDF); however, summer season, displayed considerable over/underestimates respect PDF (%). GPM-SM2RAIN beat terms detection. Consequently, we suggest use hydro climate applications semi-arid zone (Pakistan).

Soil surface moisture estimation over a semi-arid region using ENVISAT ASAR radar data for soil evaporation evaluation

The present paper proposes a method for the evaluation of soil evaporation, using soil moisture estimations based on radar satellite measurements. We present firstly an approach for the estimation and monitoring of soil moisture in a semi-arid region in North Africa, using ENVISAT ASAR images, over two types of vegetation covers. The first mapping process is dedicated solely to the monitoring o...

Evaluation of Satellite and Reanalysis Soil Moisture Products over Southwest China Using Ground-Based Measurements

Long-term global satellite and reanalysis soil moisture products have been available for several years. In this study, in situ soil moisture measurements from 2008 to 2012 over Southwest China are used to evaluate the accuracy of four satellite-based products and one reanalysis soil moisture product. These products are the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for the Earth observing system (A...

Evaluation of ERS Scatterometer soil moisture products over a half-degree region in Southwestern France

This paper investigates the ERS Scatterometer soil moisture products precision over a half-degree region in Southwestern France. Based on a high resolution soil moisture simulation (1km2) validated at the local scale, the ERS-scat product is assessed at its own resolution (about 50x50 km2). The study points out the suitable quality of the surface soil moisture product (root mean square error eq...

Recharge estimation and soil moisture dynamics in a Mediterranean, semi-arid karst region

Knowledge of soil moisture dynamics in the unsaturated soil zone provides valuable information on the temporal and spatial variability of groundwater recharge. This is especially true for the Mediterranean region, where a substantial fraction of long-term groundwater recharge is expected to occur during high magnitude precipitation events of aboveaverage wet winters. To elucidate process unders...
